Joe Dean Mills went home to be with his Lord Monday, March 12, 2018. He was given the gift of life in Enid, Oklahoma by Ruby Jewell Jantz Mills and Mayor Eugene Mills on March 20, 1938.

Joe attended Oklahoma State University and graduated with a degree in Business. It is while attending college that he met the love of his life, Kay Herron, and married her on August 17, 1963. Joe was told by a brother-in-law that “You are not just marrying a woman, but a whole family,” and what a family he got.

He served his country by enlisting in the United States Navy, April 16, 1962 and served until April 15, 1964.

Joe worked for “Back to the Bible Broadcast” in Lincoln, Nebraska for 40 years. He and Kay settled back into McCurtain County in 2005. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and loved to listen to music and piano solos.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ruby and Eugene Mills; brother, Miles Mills; and mother and father-in-law, Joe and Evelyn Herron.

Joe is survived by his wife of 54 years Kay Herron Mills; children, Dr. Jeffrey D. Mills and wife, Sandra of Palmdale, California, Heather Kroll and husband, K.C. of Castle Pines, Colorado; grandchildren, Alex Mills, Nick Mills, Lincoln Kroll, Atlas Kroll; family by love, Darrell and Kathie Whitten of McKinney, Texas, Bill and JoAnn Smith of Rogers, Arkansas, Larry and Judy Massey of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Billy and Susan Gentry of Hobart, Oklahoma, Mike and Brenda Palmer of Idabel, Oklahoma, Dennis and Nancy Watson of Miami, Oklahoma, Dr. Bill and Kim Herron of Idabel, Don and Mary Herron of Idabel, Oklahoma, Jan Herron and Gama Leyva of Arizona; many other family members and friends.

There are so many family members and friends that will think of Joe with fond memories and the cousins will always talk about the stories and memories, especially the time he rode his bicycle from Lincoln, Nebraska to Idabel. We still remember and marvel!

Keep those streets busy and “Ride On, Bicycle Man…..” We’ll see you again one day.

A celebration of life service will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Idabel with Bro. Andy Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery.
