Anthony “Tony” Frank Todaro, 70, of 104 S. Division St., Mount Union, died at 8:20 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, 2015, at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona.

Born Feb. 14, 1945, in Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Anthony and Kathryn (Kirk) Todaro. He was formerly married to Karen (Beatty) McConaughey, who resides in Mount Union.

Mr. Todaro is survived by his children, David Miller and wife, Lynne, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Craig Todaro and wife, Stephanie, and Crystal Knable and husband, William, all of Mount Union; Anthony Todaro and wife, Lori, of Newville, and Tina Todaro of North Charleston, South Carolina; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He is also survived by his siblings, Anna Atherton and husband, Jerry, of Cedar Crest, Mount Union, Frank Todaro and wife, Sue, William Todaro, Julia Mostoller and husband, William, and Terry Smith and husband, Tom, all of Mount Union, and Rosie Knable of Lewistown.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Tyler Todaro.

Mr. Todaro was of the Catholic faith.

Following high school, he entered the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he remained from 1966-1968, with much of that time being spent in Vietnam, where he was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. Todaro was a member of the Mill Creek Volunteer Fire Co., and the Simpson-Hunt American Legion Post 107, and Blue Juniata VFW Post 5754, both of Mount Union.

He attended Captain Jack High School, Mount Union.

Mr. Todaro did construction work for many years and was also employed for many years at J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, and had also worked at Empire Kosher.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. Mr. Todaro will be fondly remembered by his family for his generosity and willingness to help others in their time of need.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Father Joseph Fleming officiating. Committal will be made in the Mount Union Cemetery.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Thursday at the funeral home.
