Frankie Lee (Franklin) Anderson, age 88, of Rockwall, Texas, passed away Friday, March 9, 2018 at Royse City Medical Lodge with her husband and daughter by her side.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with Minister Deral McWhorter officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral service.

Frankie was born on November 20, 1929 in Abilene, Texas to the late Ulla and Mary (Bates) Franklin. She attended Temple High School and graduated in 1947. Following graduation, Frankie worked both in front of and behind the camera, first as a model and later as a photographer for Humbert Studios.

In 1956, she met her future husband, Robert C. (Bob) Anderson on a blind date. They were married the following year on June 10, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Temple with her beloved sister and best friend, Betty (Franklin) Taylor, serving as maid of honor.

The couple originally settled in Odessa/Midland where Bob was an engineer for Gulf Oil, but later relocated to Crane where they raised their only daughter, Teresa.

While in Crane, Frankie was active in the PTA, Betty Martin Chapter of DAR, and Beta Sigma Phi where she served as president and was elected Girl of the Year for four years running. In 1978, Bob was promoted to District Manager and the family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico, where Frankie continued her community involvement. She served as vice-president of the Lea County Oil Wives Club, but her greatest love was working as Executive Director for the Miss New Mexico Pageant from 1984 until 1990. She was loved and adored by each Miss New Mexico who reigned during her tenure. So much so, that when Frankie retired in 1990, the Miss New Mexico State Pageant Board of Directors officially bestowed upon her the title of “Queen Mom”, the nickname the girls had lovingly given her years before.

In 1990, Bob received another promotion from Chevron (previously Gulf Oil) that took him and Frankie back to Midland where they had first started their married life, and while they were sad to leave their beloved Land of Enchantment, they were happy to be in the same city where their daughter, Teresa and grandson, Scotty, lived.

In 1991, their granddaughter, Whitney joined the family, and Frankie’s joy expanded. She loved nothing more than spending time with her precious grandchildren and never missed a single sporting event, dance recital or school play. Frankie was in charge of planning family vacations and made every trip memorable, whether it was skiing at Angel Fire or the clan’s annual visit to Disney World.

In 2011, Frankie and Bob moved to Rockwall to be near family and became members of Meadow View Church of Christ in Mesquite.

Frankie is survived by her husband of 60 years, Bob Anderson of Rockwall; daughter, Teresa Lovett of Rockwall; grandson, Scotty Lovett and his wife, Stephenie of Rowlett; granddaughter, Whitney Shin and her husband, Jay of New York City; great-granddaughter, Audrey Lovett; and various nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Dorothy Fay Ayres of Gatesville, Betty Taylor of Temple, and Winnie Frattone of Chicago.
