Anthony Henley, 3rd Baron Henley, DL JP (12 April 1825 - 27 November 1898) was born at Drayton Manor, Stafford. He succeeded his father as third Baron Henley in 1841 but as this was an Irish peerage it did not entitle him to a seat in the House of Lords. He became High Sheriff of Northamptonshire in 1854 and was elected to the House of Commons for Northampton in 1859 (Liberal), a seat he held until 1874. The Northington title held by his great-grandfather was revived on the 28th of June 1885 and he was created Baron Northington, of Watford in the County of Northampton, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom. This title gave him and the later Barons an automatic seat in the House of Lords. He married his first wife on the 31st of July 1846 ; Julia Emily Augusta Peel (1st January 1828 -15th February 1862). She was his cousin and the daughter of the Very Rev John Peel DD, Dean of Worcester and neice of Sir Robert Peel, Prime Minister 1834-1835 and 1841-1846. After the death of his first wife in 1862 he remarried eight years later. His second wife was Clara Campbell Lucy Jekyll, and they were married at St George's Church, Hanover Square, London on the 30th June 1870. Clara was born in 1838 at Marylebone, Middlesex and was the second daughter of Joseph Henry Storie Jekyll of Mulbarton in Norfolk. She was baptised at Shirley, Southampton on the 30th of July 1838.
