Michael (Tank) E. Swartz, 66, of North Baltimore, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio following an unexpected illness. He was born January 26, 1952 to Eugene and Maxine (Houk) Swartz. He married Debra K Johnson on April 7, 1973. Mike was owner of Swartz Sohio in his early adult years prior to working for OH Materials enabling him to travel to and work on Midway Island. More recently, he worked for and retired from the Wood County Park District. Mike was a well-known resident of North Baltimore for most of his life. He was a member of the North Baltimore American Legion Post 539 and a former volunteer of the North Baltimore Fire Department. He enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing, fishing, traveling, sitting on his Key West-themed patio, and looking out his backdoor across the pond watching the wildlife. His big personality and love of life were matched only by his passion for Notre Dame football. He loved going to concerts and he had dreams of selling off his property and moving to a Margaritaville-themed retirement community in the south. Mike was preceded in death by his father Eugene Swartz and brother-in-law, James LaRue (Deanna). He is survived by his wife Debra, his three sons, Zachary (Michelle), Jacob (Tess), Lucas (Amanda), his eight grandchildren Zachary, Avery, Eli, Alaina, Ezra, Tyler, Hailey, and Ethan, who fondly referred to him as 'Paw', his mother Maxine, his sisters Deanna and Nancy, and his brother Kevin (Barbara). Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, North Baltimore. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 15, 2018 at SMITH-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, with Father Arthur J. Niewiadomski officiating.
