Dan Kennard Wilson of Emporia entered into rest Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Newman Regional Health. He was 66.
Dan was born Sunday, March 25, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri to Kenneth and Ida Margaret (McClelland) Wilson. He worked for a time as a mentor for boys in Tennessee, as a truck driver, and did maintenance at several places. Dan was a lover of dogs.
Dan is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert Eugene "Gene" Wilson; his great-nephew, Devin Fossett; and his beloved dog, Henry. He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn "Katy" Wilson of Emporia, KS; sister, Iva Fossett of Grain Valley, MO; brother, Kenneth Wilson of Hohenwald, TN; and 3 grandchildren, Michael Carruth, Larissa Carruth, and Dylan Carruth; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Foundation in care of Charter Funerals.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Albert Eugene “Gene” Wilson; his great-nephew, Devin Fossett; and his beloved dog, Henry.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn “Katy” Wilson of Emporia, Kansas; sister, Iva Fossett of Grain Valley, Missouri; brother, Kenneth Wilson (Lola) of Hohenwald, Tennessee; a loving sister-in-law, Kathy Wilson (Gene) of Primm Springs, Tennessee; and three grandchildren, John Michael Carruth, Mary Larissa Carruth, and Andrew Dylan Carruth; three nephews, Kevin Fossett, Randy Fossett, and Matthew Wilson; two nieces, Chandra Buckley and Nikki Wilson; as well as numerous great nephews and great nieces.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 23, at Faith Lutheran Church in Emporia, Kansas at 10:30 am. A private inurnnment will be held at Maplewood Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Emporia, Kansas afterwards.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or the Dan Wilson Memorial Bench Fund for Kenyon Heights in care of Charter Funerals in Emporia, Kansas.
