Fred Raymond Sorensen, of Louisville, formerly of Broomfield, died of natural causes Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, in Balfour Retirement Community in Louisville. He was 87.

The son of Sofus Julies Sorensen and Helen Ann Strube, he was born June 24, 1919, in Lexington, Neb. He married Dorothy Campbell on May 16, 1959, in Colorado Springs.

Mr. Sorensen moved to Broomfield in 1985, and to Louisville in 2005.

Survivors include his wife, of Louisville; three sons, Jon Sorensen, of Broomfield, Stuart Sorensen, of California, and Randal Sorensen, of Gunnison; one stepson, Richard Minard; two brothers, Bob Sorensen, of Albin, Wyo., and Earl Sorensen, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two sisters, Maxine Boyce, of Albin, Wyo., and Clara Ann Nelson, of Kimball, Neb.; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today at Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette.

A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Southern Baptist Church, 700 W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette. Pastor Mark Hensley will officiate.

Interment will be at Arvada Cemetery.
