Barbara Jean (nee Claus) Henson was born in St. Louis County on April 9, 1932, and went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2018.
Barbara grew up in Maplewood and graduated from Maplewood High School.
On June 5, 1953, she married the love of her life, Carl Medlin. They made their home in Times Beach and later moved to Fenton and eventually Crestwood. She worked for many years at Kellison Elementary School as a secretary.
After Carl's death in 1992, Barb met and married Rev. James Henson in 1995. They enjoyed retirement and companionship until Jim's health deteriorated and his eventual death in 2014. Until health issues made it impossible, she and Jim were very active in Concord Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by Carl Medlin and James Henson as well as a son, Michael Medlin, and her sister, Betty Brinson.
She will be deeply missed by many. These include her sons, Steve Medlin, and Carl (Bill) Medlin (Barbara), her stepson Steve Henson (Linda), her grandchildren, Tracy Medlin (Mark Lungren), Carla Norris (Woody), James Medlin (Michele), a great-grandson, Ethan Lundgren and her very dear friends Darlene and Regina.
Services: Memorial service at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery Chapel, Friday, March 23, 2018, at 10:15 a.m. Attendees are asked to meet at the main building at 10:00 a.m.
