Mildred L. Sions-Cole, 82, of McCoole, MD, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.

Born on March 14, 1934 at Flats, WV, she was a daughter of the late Samuel L. and Pauline (Pratt) Srout. She was preceded in death by her former husband, Earl Sions; her second husband, Donald Cole; four brothers, Paul, Carl and Claude Srout and Robert Rader and two sisters, Helen Jay Srout and Doris (Srout) Martin-Rogers.

Mrs. Cole was a 1968 graduate of Scott Beauty School in Cumberland, MD and was employed as a hairdresser in the Tri-Towns area for 45 years. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to Queens Point Memorial Post # 6775, VFW, McCoole where she served in multiple roles on the local, district and state levels. She served as Past President and Treasurer and ardently supported the Voice of Democracy Program for 25 years. She also worked tirelessly with Mrs. Comfort in the youth programs at Calvary Christian Academy in Cresaptown, MD. Mildred also was very active with and supported the cancer research program with the VFW Auxiliary. She loved gardening and was proud of the beautiful flowers and landscaping around her home.

Surviving are her daughter, Teresa Sions and husband Thomas Reel of Keyser, WV; her loving grandson, who lit up her life, Kevin Preston of Barton, MD; two great-grandchildren, Jonathan Preston and wife Brooke and Carissa Preston and significant other, Kody Boyer; a great-great grandson, Boston Boyer; two brothers, Howard and Doyle Srout, both of Old Fields, WV and five sisters, Jean Evans of Arlington, VA, Janet Brooks of Westminster, MD, Linda Lough and Hazel Crane, both of Old Fields and Mona Miller of Moorefield, WV. Also surviving is a special friend, Alvin Plum,, who over the past two years, was faithful in transporting her to her medical appointments and chemotherapy treatments. It is impossible to list all of the many members of the local VFW Post who worked with her over her past 32 years of service. She loved you all.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Smith Funeral Home, Keyser Chapel, on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Crowe officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

The family invites all family and friends to continue in celebrating Mildred's life in a fellowship meal to be held immediately following the memorial service at the Queens Point Memorial Post VFW, McCoole.

Private interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery, Old Fields.
