Jackie Ray Gipson, age 55 of Cowan, died July 29 at Southern Tennessee Medical Cener. He was born in Franklin County, the son of the late George McPheren and Etta May Bohannon Gipson. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Zaguri; brothers, Herman Gipson, Vernon Gipson, Walter Gipson, and John Gipson; sisters, Charlotte Johnson, Mary Watts, and Pauline Kowalcyk. He is survived by son James M. Gipson of Sewanee; sisters, Sally Ann Tucker of Sewanee, Amy Louise Nunley of Chattanooga, and Geraldine Gipson of Decherd; brothers, William Thomas Gipson of Cowan, Jody David Gipson of Cowan, and George McPheren Gipson, Jr., of Colorado; and four grandchildren. The service was August 1 at Moore-Cortner Chapel with Rev. Tim Brown, Rev. Charles Dixon, and Rev. Harry Green officiating. Interment was in Eastern Star Cemetery, Sewanee.
