A funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 3 p.m. in the West Vanceboro Church of God. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Boyd was a Pitt County native and resided in the Calico community the majority of her life. She was a 1945 graduate of Greenville High School and a graduate of Smithdeal-Massey Business College in Richmond, VA. For a number of years, Mrs. Boyd was a legal secretary for Frank Wooten Law Firm and later was a self-employed tax preparer. Evelyn was a faithful member of the West Vanceboro Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Boyd, and brothers, James Earl Bullock and Sherwood Thornton Bullock.
She is survived by her: son, Nathan Derrick Boyd and wife, Phyllis, of Bladenboro; daughter, Beth Eden Ahmad of New Bern; sister-in-law, Hilda Boyd of Chocowinity; grandchildren, Murshed Ahmad, Nophul Ahmad, Sharif Ahmad, Derrick Michael Boyd and Presley Taylor Boyd; and great grandchildren, Elizabeth Jane Ahmad and Gunner Nolan Ahmad; niece, Deborah Burnett; nephew, James Bullock; and special caregiver, Meghan Rittenhouse.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Lynn and Ann Malan for outstanding dedication and service to our mother. In addition, thank you to the staff of Spring Arbor in Greenville and Community Hospice in Whiteville, NC.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 6-8 p.m. at the West Vanceboro Church of God.
