Sarah Jayne Williams, Derrick, Utsman was born in Hawkins County, Tennessee about 1883 to Willie Blunt Williams and Nancy M. Larkin Williams. Sarah lived on the Williams family farm until age 35. At that time, she married a neighbor / widower named Marvel L. Derrick Jr. on 17 January 1909. After Mr. Derrick's death in 1919, Sarah married another widower by the name of Andrew T. Utsman on 24 December 1923. Sarah died in 1945 and is buried in the Utsman family plot adjacent to Andrew T. Utsman and his first wife Rosa L. Utsman.

UTSMAN--Mrs. Sarah J., 63, died at her home east of Rogersville, at 5:45 a.m., Monday. Survivors: husband, A. T. Utsman; son, Jack of the Navy; sisters, Mrs. W. J. Johnson, Miss Anna Williams, Mrs. Ed H. Barretts of Surgoinsville, Mrs. F. L. Palmer of Spears Ferry, Virginia, and Mrs. Orbin Johnson of Washington. Services, 11 a.m. Wednesday, Midway Baptist Church. Taylor's, Rogersville, in charge.
