Simeon Smith, 53, of 201 Oak Avenue, died at home.

Mr. Smith was a graduate of Starkey Seminary. He and his two brothers, Ellsworth and William Hazlitt Smith, passed entrance exams to Cornell University in 1869. Ellsworth decided to enter business education while William and Simeon entered the University. Simeon Smith graduated in 1873 from Cornell, earning a B.S. degree. He then entered the Albany Law School and earned his L.L.B. and was admitted to the bar in May 1875. He entered into law practice with his brother William, in 1876. In 1893 he was appointed city attorney.

He is survived by his wife, Minnie K.; one son, Arthur K. Smith; two daughters, the Misses Alice and Lucile Smith at home; one brother, William Hazlitt Smith; one sister, Miss Charity Smith of this city.
