WEDOWEE, Ala. - Mrs. Rosie Lee (Prothro) Wright, 48, of Wedowee died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002 in State Line, Ga.
Funeral services are scheduled Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. at Burkes Chapel United Methodist Church in Wedowee with the Rev. James Wright, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband, Mr. Charles Wesley Wright of Wedowee; her mother, Ms. Minnie Prothro of Wedowee; her mother-in-law, Ms. Velma Wright of Wedowee; her god-daughter, Ms. Shenikia Nelson of Wedowee; four sisters, Mrs. Maola (Bill) Clark Houston, Ms. Willie (Jimmy) Dean Roundtree and Ms. Flora Mae Wright, all of Wedowee, and Ms. Maudie Brown of Valley; two brothers, Herman (Jewel) Pearson and Willie Joe Prothro, both of Wedowee; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lera Robertson and Mrs. Betty Ann (Kimble) Barsha, both of Wedowee; five brothers-in-law, Tom Robertson, David (Queen) Wright, Jimmy Wright and James Wright, all of Wedowee, and Anthony Junior Wright of Woodland, Ala.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Born March 9, 1954 in Roanoke, Ala., Mrs. Wright spent all of her life in Wedowee, where she worked for the last six years for the Wilkerson family. Mrs. Wright was a long-time devoted member of Burkes Chapel United Methodist Church where she served in various offices over her lifetime, including the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, church lay leader, church treasurer and choir leader. She was a dynamic vocalist in church where she regularly exercised her gift of singing in the church choir. Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her sister, Ms. Mary Pickard. She was the daughter of the late Joe Prothro.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the funeral services Tuesday. Public viewing hours will be held Monday, Sept. 23 after 10 a.m. at Clark Memorial Funeral Service in Roanoke.
