Linda Kay Hargrove was born in Jasper, TX, to the late James W. Hargrove and Blanche L. “Sisson” Hargrove, on April 28, 1939. She graduated from Jasper High School where she was in the Pep Squad. Linda was active in the church as a child and until her last breath. From an early age, she had a love of nurturing plants and local wildlife. This love continued to spread to her family and community.
Linda Hargrove and Bob Shepherd were married from 1957 to 1987. Linda worked with her husband to raise three children. She nurtured her children through love and discipline. Linda was adamant that her children were healthy inside and out, by strict routines of healthcare and the Church.
In 1987, Linda went to work at the Texas DPS earning high awards for her work. She eventually would retire after a successful career. Linda loved to travel and read. In her travels she visited Israel, Hong Kong, and throughout Europe. She loved the Caribbean and even Las Vegas. Linda was an avid reader of biographies and history. Amongst her stacks of books were also daily devotionals and the Bible.
Linda is survived by her brother J.W. Hargrove; her three children, Bo, Calvin, and Dianne; her grandchildren, Ginny Shepherd Estes, Amanda Strybos, Cody Cantwell, Trenton Cantwell, and Kayla Putman; and her great- grandchildren, Noah, Aubrey, Izabella, Isaiah, Trinity, Madison, and Gabriela.
The family visitation will be on Friday, December 1, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Beck Funeral Home at 4765 Priem Ln., Pflugerville, TX 78660. The funeral will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday December 2, at The Fellowship Hutto, 6655 US-79 Hutto, TX 78624. We will reassemble at the Hutto Cemetery at 103 Creek Ledge Dr., Hutto, TX 78634, for a graveside service.
