Police Officer Greggory Jonathon Casillas was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect after a vehicle pursuit. The suspect also shot and seriously wounded another Pomona Officer who was attempting to remove Gregg from the line of fire. Both Officers were transported to the Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center where Officer Casillas passed away. Officer Casillas first joined the Pomona Police Department as a Records Specialist in 2014. He later served as a Jailer and then was sworn in as a Police Officer in September 2017. He was completing his field training at the time of his death.
Officer Casillas was survived by his wife, two children, parents and two brothers, along with all of his "brothers & sisters" in Blue nationwide.
