Barbara Coffman was born and educated in Lincoln County Ontario. She attended Goshen College in Indiana where she received her B.A. degree. She was a correspondent for several local area newspapers and wrote many articles about local history. She was a trustee of Jordan Museum and its secretary for 23 years.
She was an early member of The Ontario Genealogical Society and the Pennsylvania German Folklore Society. Barbara authored and co-authored several books. She lived with her sister, Lena, in the village of Vineland and was very much respected in the historical community.
