Mrs. Elsie W. Greve, a prominent Rock Island clubwoman and wife of H. Roland Greve, former co-owner of Greve & Zietler, a decorating firm, died at 1 this morning in her residence at 1025 20th St., following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be Thursday afternoon at 1:30 in the Hodgson Funeral Home, the Rev. David P. Dees, associate pastor of First Methodist Church of Rock Island, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 5 and from 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow.
Mrs. Greve was born Nov. 11, 1896 in Davenport, a daughter of Henry J. and Marie Weetz. Reared and educated in Davenport, she had resided in Rock Island for the past 40 years. On Feb. 9, 1918, she was married to H. Roland Greve in Peoria.
She was a member of First United Methodist church where she was active in the Women's Society of Christian Service. She also held membership in the Eastern Star and White Shrine and had served as president of the Lincoln Elementary and Central Junior High School Parent-Teacher Assns., where she was active in the past president's club.
Survivors are the widower, a daughter, Miss Marie A. Greve of Rock Island, a son, John E. Greve also of Rock Island, a sister, Mrs. N.E. Crawford, Mt. Joy, Iowa and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents.
