Glenn Adams, 52-year-old Lone Oak salesman, died here last night at the Western Baptist Hospital after his speeding sports car went out of control and overturned south of Lone Oak earlier In the afternoon.

Adams died at 6:42 p.m. A passenger In the car, 14-year-old David Shelton of 3430 Lone Oak Road, was also hospitalized from the accident. Shelton has a fractured wrist and scratches about the face and body.

Near Lone Oak
The fatal accident occurred about 4:05 pm, on Highway 45, one mile south of Lone Oak.

State police said Adams was headed north on highway 45 at a high rate of speed when he came in behind a car driven by Mrs. Owen Cummins, who was delivering newspapers along the highway. The dams car swerved to the left side of the road, where, he apparently lost control of the vehicle.

State Trooper Creston Rudol ph said the car went about 60 feet across the left lane of the road and some 150 feet up the road ditch before it hit a brick driveway abutment at the Don Stephenson home. The car went some 55 more ftt before It landed upside down in the ditch on the west side of the road.

Car Is Destroyed
The car caught fire and was a complete loss. .

The Shelton boy was a neighbor of Adams. Adams had pick ed the youth up In Lone Oak to take him home.

Adams' body was taken to the Roth Funeral Home here. Funeral arrangements are lncomplete.

McCracken County Coroner Jimmie Davis said an Inquest into Adams' death will be held but no date has been set.

ur. Adams, wno operated a big dry goods, notions and hosiery business, was fatally injured when his sports car went out of control and overturned several several times on Highway 45 south of Lone Oak.

Fourteen-year-old Larry Shelton, a passenger in the car, escaped with a broken wrist and scratches about the face and body. he was taken to Western Baptist Hospital where hais condition was described as "satisfactory."

Mr. Adams died of a severe head injury. He was a native of McCracken County and graduate of Lone Oak High School. he had operated his own brokerage business for 27 years, starting it as a route salesman.

Operating through salesman-associates, Mr. Adams extended his business activities north to Chester, Ill., east to Lexington, Ky., and south into Northern Tennessee. He maintained warehouses in Bowling Green and Owensboro, Ky., and Cape Girardeau, Mo.

Sixteen salesmen were associated with him in business, including one to St Petersburg, Fla.

Mr. Adams was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Marlon T. Adams of 3602 Lovelaceville Road. His father was connected with the maintenance division of the state highway department for many years and served as McCracken County's first road engineer. The crash victim served a years in the Army during World War II.

Other survivors are his wife, Mrs. Clara Adams; a sister, Mrs. Charles B. Wilson of Paducah; a nephew and a niece.

Palbearers were John Robinson, Hubert Smithson, Norman Puckett, Noble Burnley, James MltcheU and Carl Tankersley.
