Evelyn Fajkus Hollis passed away on February 13, 2018, in Marysville, Washington. She was 94.

Evelyn was born October 3, 1923, near West, Texas, in McLennan County, to Vince Alois and Anna (Jares) Fajkus. She attended school in Leroy, and went to work in Dallas, where she worked as a keypunch operator and attended night school.

She married Medford Hollis on April 21, 1945 at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Dallas, Texas, and they traveled with his military career as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force. He retired in 1967, and they lived in San Bernardino and Victorville, California. They later moved to Marysville, Washington to be near their son.

Evelyn was an accomplished artist, specializing in non-objective modern art. She had numerous shows in California and belonged to The Comtempos, a San Bernardino group of artists.

She was a very devout Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Charlie, Tom and Frank Fajkus.

She is survived by her son, John Hollis and wife Terri; two grandchildren , Aprile Slutsky and husband Brian of Phoenix, Arizona, and Josh Hollis and wife Marvi of Washington; two great-grandchildren, one sister, Stella Tobola of Ennis, Texas; several nieces and nephews.

Committal Service was Friday, February 23, 2018, and burial at Tahoma National Cemetery, under the direction of Schaefer-Shipman Funeral Home, Marysville, Washington.
