AliceM. Leider

Manitowoc - Alice M. Leider, age 93, a Manitowoc resident, entered eternal life, on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Shady Lane Nursing Care Center, Manitowoc.

Alice was born on May 16, 1924 in Valders, WI, daughter of the late Anton and Matilda (Throndson) Erickson. She was a graduate of Valders High School with the class of 1942. After graduating from high school she worked for Mirro Company in Manitowoc. She then worked at Peck's grocery store and Sigman's Curtain Shop for 18 years. Alice returned to school and became an executive housekeeper and then worked at Shady Lane until her retirement in 1985. She loved all of her jobs. Growing up, she drove her brothers crazy by singing opera. She auditioned in Chicago and wanted to audition in New York. Then met the love of her life, Bud, married and had children. On February 12, 1944, she married Forrest "Buddy" Leider in Manitowoc, WI. He preceded her in death on June 14, 1992. She was a long time member of First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, and sang in the choir there. Alice also sang for the Sweet Adeline's in Manitowoc and was known for her infectious giggle. Alice was a people person: she loved people and they loved her. She was humorous, industrious, and altruistic. The world is a much better place because of her and now heaven is too.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Sandra Kay and Raymond Johnson, West Bend; her son and daughter-in-law: Rev. Jon F. and Lynn Leider, Wauwatosa; five grandchildren: Lisa (Ryan) Rupe, Jeff (Tracey) Leider, Erick (Kristy) Leider, James Johnson, Julia (Jeff) Bethards; seven great grandchildren: Kyle, Ella, Michael, Brianna, Madelyn, Connor, and Raven. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was also preceded in death by five brothers: Bennett, Rev. Allen, Orrin, Kennard and Alton Erickson; and four sisters: Hazel Aucton, Florence Hauschaul, Edna Martin and Ione Haupt.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Benjamin Schaefer with burial to follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Manitowoc.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at First German Ev. Lutheran Church, Manitowoc, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m.
