LOVING — Funeral services for Phyllis Lorene Doyle, 75, of East London Road, Loving, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday at Denton-Wood Funeral Chapel with Brother Mark Devine and Brother Stanley White officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.
Interment will follow at Loving Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Phyllis Lorene Doyle went to meet her Lord on April 2, 2007, after a lengthy illness at her home with her two sisters and nurse, Lavina Bland by her side. Phyllis was born to Emory Doyle and Olive Denney Doyle on Feb. 19, 1932, in the community of Nale near Crowder, Okla. She was the seventh child of nine children, and lived on a farm in Indianola, Okla. where she spent many hours working with her brothers and sisters in the fields of their farm and their neighbors' farms.

After graduating from high school, Phyllis went to Arizona where she worked irrigating fields, working in a cotton gin and working as a waitress. Later she went to college where she earned her bachelor and master degrees as well as taking extra hours in subjects of her choosing. Phyllis came to Carlsbad to teach at Monterrey Elementary School in 1958 and enjoyed her teaching years until her retirement in May of 1988.

During her years of teaching, Phyllis spent many hours at night and weekends working at her church - Standpipe Road Baptist Church. She helped with digging ditches, remodeling and teaching Sunday School classes as well as working in Vacation Bible Schools until her health began to decline.

Phyllis enjoyed fishing, walking, singing and especially her art. She was very talented and has many oil and watercolor paintings in her home.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Tom; a niece, Charlotte Ann; and brother-in-laws Paul McLemore and Jack Payne.

Survivors include three brothers: James Monroe Doyle and wife, Helen of Krebs, Okla, Leonard P. Doyle and wife, Velva, of McAlester, Okla., A.C. Doyle and wife, Lorene, of McAlester, Okla.; four sisters: Pearl K. McLemore of Leonard, Texas, Hester F. Payne of Roundup, Mont., Roxie R. Doyle of Loving, and Peggy J. Doyle of Loving; nephews, Nathan R. Payne and Robin E. Payne, who lived in her home for several years; three great-nieces: April D. Dominguez, Heather R. Westfall and Mary E. Lowrey, who also lived with her for several years; and great-great nephew Ian Ray Westfall, who was a big part of her life.

She is survived by seven nephews, four nieces, five great-nephews, nine great-nieces, six great-great nephews, three great-great nieces and many friends and loved ones from her church and community.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Payne, Aaron Payne, Jimmy Tarvin, Ralph Medrano, Lupe Vasquez and Gary Stafford.

Honorary pallbearers are Heather Westfall, Ian Ray Westfall, Tish Tackett, Robin Payne, Zach Reiner, April Dominguez, Mary Beth Lowrey, Craig Baldridge, Tim McLemore and Luke Devine.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, 2625 Pennsylvania N.E., Suite 225, Albuquerque.
