Kathryn (Katie) Stanton Buckley, 99, died Wednesday, February 3, 1999 at her residence in Salem. A funeral mass was held on Saturday, at the Holy Cross Church in Salem with the Rev. Thomas Komopka officiating. Burial will be in the spring at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Cambridge.
She was born January 22, 1900, in Salem, the daughter of Thomas and Ellen (Henley) Stanton.
She graduated from Cambridge Union School in 1918 and was a graduate of Oneonta Teachers College. She taught in the Lauderdale District School, the Center Cambridge School District #4, the Walloomsac District School and Cambridge Central School. She retired in 1969.
She was a communicant of Salem Holy Cross Church and a member of Court Leonard Catholic Daughters of America in Cambridge. She was a member of the New York State Retired Teachers and had been active in Home Bureau. She enjoyed arts and crafts.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Buckley; two sons, Robert L. Buckley and Thomas J. Buckley; three sisters, Helen Pemrick, Mary Parrish and Theresa Stanton, and one brother, Thomas Stanton.
She is survived by a daughter, Pat Fairley of Salem, one son, John T. Buckley of Salem; one sister, Winifred Lavigne of Albany; one brother, James Stanton of Claverack; twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Cross Church building fund or the Salem Rescue Squad both in Salem.
