Myra (Carter) Evans
SEPTEMBER 11, 1949 ~ MARCH 8, 2018 (AGE 68)

Porterville - This "Farmers Daughter" milked her last cow, hauled the last bale, moved her last sprinkler pipe, and closed the corral gate for the final time on March 8, 2018.

I was born to 'goodly parents' Wallace D. and Vera Phillips Carter. I was blessed to live my life in this valley. Siblings: Lila (Val) Hardy, Phillip (Coleen) Carter, Cleo (James) Watt all of Morgan, Rosanne (Jeff Reeves) Bountiful; and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by Parents and brother-in-law, Ned Stenberg.

I was allowed to grow up in a simpler time. I remember working together; riding horses; church softball; Porterville Days; sleigh rides behind the horse; caroling hay rides; picking raspberries in a lard bucket tied by a sisal twine; cooking on a coal stove; a twin tub Dexter; 4-H clubs; going to church; trekking down the lane to the bus or to the outhouse in all kinds of weather. I remember hauling hay; working in the garden; canning what we ate; dressing pork and beef; lye soap; helping Grandpa and Grandma; school; Elementary Christmas Operetta, “There’ll Always be a Christmas”; and much more.

I met my knight in shining armor and love of my life, a motorcycle riding city boy no less. Michael L. Evans and I were married on Nov. 25, 1966. Vows later solemnized in the Ogden Temple. We were blessed with two wonderful sons; Marc (Geneil K) Evans and Matthew (Julie O.) Evans; grandchildren, D. J. Morgan (Gabby), Kristen Wayman, Josh Wayman and Savhanna Evans; great granddaughter, Mila Morgan.

I served in a variety of LDS church positions in the ward and stake; Mike and I also served a service mission. I was involved in some community work. Loved working with the horses; rec softball: farming with dad: helping Mike with his ‘extra projects’: gardening: music: photography: Woodbadge: being outdoors: our family four wheeler rides, especially up Hardscrabble; trips to Yellowstone, Bear Lake: picnics and any time together, going to the temple, and family history.

I worked for many years for Morgan School District and retired as an IT Specialist.

A special thanks to Dr. Vincent L. Hansen and staff for the loving care.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the West Porterville Ward Chapel, 2700 South Morgan Valley Dr, Porterville. A viewing will be held Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Walker Mortuary, 45 West 200 North, Morgan and Tuesday at the church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
