He was born Aug. 21, 1950, in Lewiston. He was the fourth of five children born to James Edward Windsor and Josephine Paffile Windsor. He and his four sisters grew up and attended schools in Lewiston.
He married Charlene Ann Peyron on Nov. 15, 1969, and they raised two children: Jason and Jamie. He worked a number of years at the Lewiston Potlatch mill until 1984, when his family moved to Hawaii, where he and Charlene worked together at Shelby's, a popular restaurant in Honolulu. His family moved back to Idaho two years later and he and his wife managed Biscuitroot Restaurant in Moscow. A couple of years later, they moved back to Lewiston and Jim started his own business providing maintenance and janitorial services to banks, offices and apartment buildings in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley.
Jim loved living in the L-C Valley where he was born. He enjoyed spending time with friends, and especially looked forward to attending classic car shows and making the occasional trip with friends to Laughlin, Nev. But he liked nothing more than being on the river. He always looked forward to warm summer days when he could put his boat in the water and spend the day on the river.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in 1998. He is survived by his two children. He also is survived by three sisters, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A sister, Diane Windsor Rowland, preceded him in death.
At his request, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be interred alongside his wife in Lewiston's Normal Hill Cemetery. A reception to celebrate his life will be held at 1 p.m. March 31 at the Eagles in Clarkston.
His family takes comfort in knowing that now he is at peace and he is with his wife. We are eternally grateful to all his friends and family who comforted him during difficult times over the past two years. Rest in peace, dad.
