Rev. David C. Lyon was the son of John and Patience Lyon, both natives of New Jersey. He graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary. He was a pioneer missionary in Minnesota and the Dakota.
David first married Eliza Shiland of Cambridge, N.Y. They had children:
1. Mary L. born in N.Y.
2. Alexander B. born on 03 Apr 1851 in Mineral Point, WI., a Conductor in Minneapolis.
David married Emily Henrietta Martineau, who was a native of Huntsville, Alabama. They had children:
3. Fannie M. born 1856 in New York
4. John M. born 1860 in Winona, Minnesota, was a bookkeeper
Rev. Dr. Lyon will be remembered as one of the most highly esteemed pioneer workers in the Presbyterian church, coming to this state with Mrs. Lyon many years ago. His wife is buried beside him, his son John on the other side. He shares his stone with his daughter Fannie.
