Mrs. Audrey Milligan Ward, 85, was called home by her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 to be reunited with her loving husband of 58 years, Fred Ward. Audrey was born on August 29, 1932 in Brunswick County to Clarence and Alice Milligan. She was a graduate of Flora MacDonald College and taught briefly at St. Paul’s High School in Red Springs, NC. She left teaching to become a homemaker and mother to her 3 children. She and her family resided in Burlington, NC until 1972 when they moved to Winston-Salem. Audrey was a very faithful member at Reynolda Presbyterian, followed by Parkway Presbyterian where she spent many hours volunteering for her church. She prepared the Wednesday night suppers at Parkway Presbyterian for years until her declining health caused her to stop. She is survived by a son, Fred Ward, Jr., of Winston-Salem, a daughter, Gina Handy (Mike), of Pfafftown, a son, David Ward (Eleanor), of The Woodlands, TX. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Brittany Chapman (Jason), of Clemmons and Kristina Ward of The Woodlands, TX and two great-grandchildren, Leighton and Brielle Chapman of Clemmons. A funeral service will be conducted in her honor 2:00 PM Monday, March 12, 2018, at Parkway Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Thom Burleson. Entombment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
