Daniel was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 30, 1947. He was the son of Douglas R. and Rita Marvin Marsh. He was a 1965 graduate of Wilmington High School and followed with a degree from Bowling Green State University.
Daniel taught school until 2003 mainly at North Fort Myers High School as an English teacher. Twenty years ago he was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease. Although an early experimental treatment caused a stroke followed by ongoing seizures, Daniel continued to maintain his steady calm, without complaint, during his physical and cognitive decline. He was always a proud, gentle man and a friend to all.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Lou (Larry) Chamberlain of Fort Myers, Fla., brothers, Alan (Geneva) Marsh of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Stephen (Fred) Marsh of Hillsboro, Oregon as well as a devoted step daughter, Amanda (Magnus) Thiersmann, Cape Coral, FL. He also leaves behind a number of nephews, great nephews and great nieces as well as ex-wife and friend Connie Maher Putnoki, Cari Maher, and Col. Robin Maher, California.
His ashes will be interred at Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington, Ohio at the convenience of the family.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Funeral Home.
