Dr Edward Alfred Adelman Sr was born on March 18, 1922 in Randolph Township, Porter County, Ohio, the son of Alfern B (Caldwell) (Adelman) Porter (1900-1981) and her 1st husband Edward Nicholas Adelman (1897-1975). Edward's parents later divorced, and both remarried.

He served his country in the 82nd Airborne where he earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

Edward graduated from Appalachian State University where he was the starting halfback on the football team. He then received his Master's Degree at Peabody College and went on to earn his PhD at Vanderbilt University.

He was married to Margaret Manning (19 Jan 1923-21 Apr 2012).

For over thirty 30 years Edward was a coach and principal in the Metro Public Schools including White's Creek, Maplewood and Cohn High Schools. He was also a member of the Serra Club and the Knights of Columbus. As a communicant of Saint Henry Catholic Church where he served on the Parish Council, he took communion weekly to the patients at the Veteran's Hospital.

He was 95 years old when he passed away on March 8, 2018 in Nashville.

Preceded in death by his wife and his parents, he was survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, three sons and two daughters-in-law, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Mass of Resurrection was at Saint Henry Catholic Church, and burial was in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
