He is also survived by one daughter, Michelle (Mike) McCombs of Jacksonville; one step-son, Mike Stokes of Lebanon, TN; 6 grandchildren, Maggie, Gracie, Addison, Isaac, Michael and Brooke; two brothers, Randy (Pam) Turner of Franklin and Gaylon Turner of Jacksonville; three sisters, Sally Fish of Auburn, CA, Jane (Ken) Dodson and Diana (Tony) Fanning both of Jacksonville and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 8 brothers, Gerald, Charles, William, Gary, Donnie, Jimmy, Jesse and Larry Turner and one sister, Sharon Turner.
Russell served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He worked as a truck driver on construction for many years and was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was also a member of Westfair Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, working in his garage, steam engines, building things, and working on small engines.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 12:30-2:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis.
