Central / Enterprise, UT – Mildred Dee Peterson, 86, died in her sleep at the Bella Terra Facility, March 5, 2018 in St. George, Utah. She was born December 31, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Carlton Charles Strickland and Ruby Adele Spurgeom. Her mother later divorced Carlton and married Henry Palmer Johnson, (Grandpa).
Henry was in construction and they moved all over the United State, finally settling in Panaca, Nevada. On March 17, 1948, she went to a dance in Enterprise, Utah and the rest is history.
Mildred married Lerald Wayne Peterson on July 2, 1948 in the courthouse in Pioche, Nevada. She joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints one month later. Their marriage was solemnized on July 2, 1955 in the St. George LDS Temple. She was active in the church and had many callings.
Mildred loved Enterprise and lived there for 77 years until she moved to Central to live with her daughter, Joyce.
She is survived by her children: Michael (Kathy) Peterson, Winchester Hills, David (Sandra) Peterson, St. George, Wayne (Pamela) Peterson, New Castle, Joyce (Bruce) Bissell, Central, Elizabeth (Jess) Holm, St. George and Michelle (Carl) Condie, Diamond Valley. She is also survived by many grand and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and three beautiful children: Brenda Jean, Roger Isaac and Vivian Peterson all of Enterprise, Utah.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Enterprise LDS Stake Center, 80 South Center, Enterprise, Utah. Visitations will be held Friday, March 9th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary, 288 West St. George Blvd, St. George, Utah and Saturday, prior to service from 12:30-1:30 at the church. Interment will be at the Enterprise Cemetery.
