Thomas Dolinger, 83, of Whitetop, died Thursday, March 29, 2007 at Ashe Memorial Hospital in Jefferson, N.C. He was born Oct. 23, 1923, at Whitetop to Charlie and Emma Powers Dolinger. Survivors included two brothers, David Dolinger of Millers Creek, N.C., and Glen Dolinger of Durham, N.C.; three sisters, Sina Barr of Chilbowie, Gladys Stevens of Aberdeen, Md., and Agnus Greer of Lenoir, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral was held Monday at Whitetop Baptist Church, Whitetop, with interment in Byars Cemetery. The Rev. T.A. Pennington officiated. Arrangements were by Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence.
