On Tuesday, March 6, 2018, Jesus received a tender kiss on the cheek as Eleanor H. Brooks, 92, of Roanoke, Va., greeted her heavenly Father and devoted husband in heaven. Born July 5, 1925, Eleanor was the daughter of the late Christine and Whitlow Haney. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Deming R. Brooks; and sisters, Eileen Johnson and Waverly Davis.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Kimberly B Hendrick, Karyl Mayhew (Ollie), and Karen Milam (Barry); stepson, Dennie Lee Brooks (Karen); eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Eleanor also leaves a caring church family at Villa Heights Baptist Church. Eleanor was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed the many friendships at Villa Heights.
A Funeral Service will be held at noon, Friday, March 9, 2018, at Oakey’s North Chapel with Rev. Jake Huffman officiating. Interment will follow at Old Dominion Memorial Gardens.
