Rita M. (Frarer) Bishop
Wilmington - Age 91, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Seasons Hospice at Christiana Care.
Rita was the daughter of the late Joseph B. and Katherine (Coughlin) Frarer. She graduated from St. Ann School in 1942 and Wilmington High School in 1946. She worked as an office clerk for several different companies including Family Finance Corporation and Town Enterprises, from which she retired in 1981.
She was married for 49 years to George E. Bishop, who died in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Hanks (Leo), her brother, Joseph F. Frarer (Eleanor), and her nephew, Edward J. Williamson.
Rita enjoyed many things, including gardening and entertaining, and she loved animals.
She is survived by her nieces and nephew, Rita Hanks Dugan of Middletown, Jerome Hanks (Barbara), Kathi Frarer Sulsky, Nancy Frarer Correll, and Lisa Frarer Cobb (Michael) all of Wilmington; her godson, John Cummings of Kirksville, MO; and her cat, Precious.
The family extends their deep gratitude to Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care at Christiana Hospital, Foulk Manor North Healthcare 3rd Floor, and her many devoted friends and neighbors.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Beloved R.C. Church, 907 Milltown Road, Wilmington, on Friday, March 9, at 11:00 am. A viewing will take place at the church on Friday morning from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery.
