Katherine A. Carey was born to the late Wilbur M. Greene and Estermae Swanstrom Ross in Farmville, N.C. on October 11, 1948. She was devoted to her family and her Catholic faith. She began working part time for the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in 1979, moving to a full time position in 1987 until 2013 when she began working at the chancery office for the Diocese of Tyler until her retirement in 2015. Each summer, Mrs. Carey volunteered her time to assist Camp Sunshine for special needs citizens of Tyler.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas Bryan Carey, Jr. She is survived by her daughter: Chris Cleckler and her husband Chad Cleckler of Whitehouse; son, Bryan Carey and wife Marie Carey of Beaufort, S.C.; brothers, Morris Greene of Houston and Tony Ross of Lake Charles, LA; sisters, Mary Ross and Georgia Collins both of Eugene, OR., as well as grandchildren: Anthony Carey of Norfolk, VA., Devon Carey of Beaufort, S.C., Sarah Cleckler and Daniel Cleckler of Whitehouse and two great-grandchildren.
