REGINA CAROL (MATNEY) RUNYON, 57 years of age of the Hobbs Branch section of Grundy, VA, passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at her home. Born in Buchanan County, she was the daughter of Rosie (McCoy) Matney, Hurley, VA, and the late Charlie Matney. She was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and attended the New Hope Christian Church. Regina graduated from Hurley High School, received her associates degree in finance from Pikeville College and earned her nursing degree from Southwest Virginia Community College. She was a loving wife, mother and was a registered nurse for Buchanan General Hospital with more than 20-years of service.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by an infant brother.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 10-years, Gary Runyon of Grundy, VA; her daughter, Emily Skeens of Radford, VA; her mother, Rosie (McCoy) Matney of Hurley, VA; her sister, Rebecca Matney of Hurley, VA; and her brother, Frankie Lester of West Virginia.
Also, survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral Services for REGINA CAROL (MATNEY) RUNYON will be conducted Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Ernie Hertzog and Evg. William L. Neeley officiating. Friends may call at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M.
Burial will follow, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 1:45 P.M. at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN.
Active Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the E.R. Staff at Buchanan General Hospital.
