Terri L. Snyder, age 64, of Mount Gilead, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Riverside Methodist Hospital with her loving family by her side, following a decline in her health after suffering a stroke in December.
On March 31, 1953, Terri was born in Canton, Ohio, one of four children of the late Lawrence L. Henry II and Joyce Henry. As a family they moved to Lexington, Ohio, in 1964, where she graduated from Lexington High School in the class of 1971.
During high school, Terri met her husband to be, Robert “Tom” Snyder, while she was playing the saxophone and he was playing the sousaphone. They quickly knew they were perfect for one another in every way. Tom and Terri were married months after she graduated on September 11, 1971, and they have cherished every moment of their 46 years together.
Great with a computer, Terri worked as a graphic artist for the Morrow County Sentinel for twenty plus years. She also managed the operations of their Snyder Fabrication business, so Tom could focus his time in the shop while she handled most everything else.
A woman of faith, Terri was an active member of the Kirkpatrick Church of Christ, where she also served as one of their choir directors. Formerly, she was a member of the Mt. Vernon Ave. Church of Christ in Marion, where she managed their computer graphics and projections. Over the years, she and Tom have shared very close relationships with their church families.
Wanting to create their own homestead, Terri and Tom purchased a 60 acre farm outside of Mount Gilead in 1978. They set up the shop for Tom, and then Terri focused on living off of the land. Every year she enjoyed tending to her huge garden, where she grew everything from corn, tomatoes, and green beans to even growing her own herbs and spices. She also raised her own chickens for their eggs and for their meals. She has canned enough of her crops, they were prepared for an apocalypse. She also was an excellent cook, always spoiling her family with great meals. Her favorite meal to cook though was their Thanksgiving feast, which has been a special family gathering for many years.
For Terri, her family was everything to her. In Tom, she found her life partner, and together they made a great team. They loved telling the story about how good a team they were, “Terri N’ Tom”, they were like “T.N.T.”, “we are dynamite together.” She couldn’t be more proud of her children and who they have become. She knows she needn’t worry about them, as they have married well and are strong in their faith. Lastly are her grandchildren, her little blessings from God and her true joys in life.
Strong in every way, Terri knew what she believed in life, and she stood firm to those beliefs. She could be a feisty, spitfire, and she could be the most kind and loving woman you know at the same time. She was not only smart and knowledgeable, she was also wise and best advice just when you needed it most.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Tom Snyder; two children: Robert L. “Bob” (Masumi) Snyder of Batavia, and Leslie (Jeremy) Westbrook of Millersburg; five grandchildren: Joshua and Kherin Snyder, and Nathan, Keri, and Megan Westbrook; two sisters: Tammi (Kevin) Smith of Atlanta, GA, and Toni (Larry) Williams of Norfolk, VA; two nieces and two nephews: Stephanie (Tim) Martin, Elizabeth (Tom) Adkins, Michael (Cynthia) Williams, and Benjamin Williams; and three great nieces and one great nephew: Mikayla and Avery Martin, and Arella and Evan Williams.
