Misty Michelle Cochran, 39, of Winfield, passed away at her home Thursday, March 1, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.

Misty was the daughter of Berniece R. Tapia and Steve E. Cochran. She grew up in Winfield and graduated from Winfield High School in 2000.

She loved looking outside her window and watching things and people move, especially watching people dance. Misty enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially her Kansas teams. She liked listening to music and having people talk to her and laugh with her. She enjoyed attending social events for Habitat for Humanity and Holy Name Catholic Church. Most of all, Misty loved spending time with friends and family, especially giving hugs to her mother, Berniece!

Misty was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Toribio and Margarita Tapia and paternal grandparents, Thomas and Marjorie Cochran.

She is survived by:
Her mother: Berniece Tapia of Winfield;
Her father: Steve Cochran of Winfield;
Her aunts: Maria Chavez of PA; Guadalupe Underkofler of WY; Elisha Delozier and Lupe Tapia of Winfield;
Her uncles: Tony Tapia, John Tapia, James Tapia, Alfred Tapia and Edward Tapia all of Winfield; David Martinez of Topeka; Robert Barron of FL; and
Numerous cousins.

The Rosary will be recited on Friday, March 9 at 7:30 P.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning, March 10, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Holy Name Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Miles Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials have been established in Misty’s name for Holy Name Catholic Church, Habitat for Humanity or to help defray funeral expenses. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
