Graveside service for Wayne Turner, 84, of Cement, Oklahoma, will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at the Cement Cemetery with Brother Scott Carper, officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home.
Mr. Turner passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018, in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Wayne Allen Turner was born September 16, 1933 in Alex, Oklahoma to William and Birdie Mae (Kelley) Turner. After school, he went to work on the family farm and on Herbert Weeden’s farm. Wayne married Myrtle Whitfield on November 28, 1950. The two were married for 58 years when she passed away in 2009. Wayne and Myrtle moved to Wichita, Kansas where he was a foreman for Cutahayes Meat Packing Plant until moving back to Oklahoma in 1960. Wayne worked for Young’s Well Service in Cement until 1975 when he began working for Marvin McEntire pumping oil wells until 1985. No matter what job he had, Wayne always farmed. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by 3 sons: Allen Turner and his wife Janie, of Fletcher, Terry Turner and his wife Kerry, of Cement, and Leroy Turner and his wife Manya, of Cement; 3 daughters: Jeannie McCoy and her husband Russell, of Texas, Debra Roberts and her husband Ronald, of Cement, and Annette Clark, of Cyril; 2 brothers: Floyd Turner and his wife Brenda, of Cement and Russell Turner and his wife Ming, of Poteau; 3 sisters: Elzena Bennett, of Fletcher, Gracie Troini, of TX, and Mary Powers and her husband Lloyd, of Apache; 14 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William and Birdie Turner; 3 brothers: Waylen, Bob, and Dallas Turner; and 1 sister, Mae Pelzer.
