Don was born in Portland. He graduated from Parkrose High in 1961 and joined the Navy. He served on the U.S.S. Enterprise for 4 years and continued his service as a Naval Reserve. He was an F4 Jet Technician in the Oregon Air National Guard. Don had a long career with Northwest Bell for 25 years, followed by 10 years as a Superintendent for NorAM Communications.
He married Joan Wigle in 1968. Don was very thoughtful and kind.
He loved his friends and family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Don was an avid sports fan, flew airplanes, world traveler, and loved spending time with Joan at their condo in Gearhart. He enjoyed drawing and meeting friends for happy hour.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Joan; siblings, Karen (Glen), Dale (Sally); sister-in-law, Carol, 6 nieces; 3 nephews; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.
Don will receive an honorable military burial in Willamette National Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life and reception will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at the Wood Village Baptist Church, 23601 N.E. Arata Rd., Wood Village.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Wood Village Baptist Church.
