Annette Welch Webb, 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 24, 2015, with her family by her side. At the time of her death, she was a resident of the Memory Care Community of Legacy Heights in Charlotte, N.C.

She was born August 20, 1945, in New Orleans, La., to the late Commander Edward William and Irma Meyers Welch. Annette graduated from Emory and Henry College with a degree in sociology. It was there she met and married the love of her life, Rives. They were a loving, devoted couple for 48 years.

Annette was an accomplished leader, thoughtful mentor, skilled negotiator and insightful advisor who helped build and grow firms in the health-care field. She formed strong teams, provided clear vision and delighted in their shared success. She was tireless in her work and enjoyed the challenge of tackling the most difficult issues.
However, what she cherished most was family and friends. With Rives she raised two children, showering them with love and instilling in them a strong sense of service. She taught by example, serving in positions as varied as President of the PTA to Cub Scout Den leader. She often volunteered for the job no one else would take and achieved more than anyone could have imagined possible.

She loved her church, Providence United Methodist, where she served in numerous leadership roles including becoming the first female Chair of the Church Council. She especially loved her Sunday school class, the Crosstalkers, where she forged deep and treasured friendships.

Annette had a quick and beautiful smile along with an equally quick wit. When she began a story, it usually ended with a room full of laughter. Both her smile and her laughter were infectious. She loved dancing to Motown hits, cooking Nawlins dishes and traveling to the beach. Annette was full of joy, which she shared generously and with her whole heart. The friendships she made were steadfast and abiding. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

Annette is survived by her husband, Rives; son, Robb; daughter, Rian Schill and husband Jim, all of Charlotte, N.C.; her sister, Joette Ellefson of New Orleans La.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she held dear.

The family would like to thank the staff and care providers at Legacy Heights for the love and attention she received during her stay and the Hospice of Charlotte for their care and assistance.

A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 30, 2015, at Providence United Methodist Church. Bishop Kenneth H. Carter and The Reverend Doctor William T. Jeffries will officiate. The family will receive friends at a reception after the service in the church atrium. A private committal will take place prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Annette's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 4600 Park Road, Suite 250, Charlotte, NC 28209; or to Providence United Methodist Church, 2810 Providence Road, Charlotte, NC 28211.
