Charles L Brown, 86, of Mount Vernon died on March 3, 2018 while staying as a guest at The Laurels in Mount Vernon

Charles was born on August 1, 1931 in Glenmont, Ohio. He was the son of Ralph W. and Dorothy (Englehardt) Brown.

Charles graduated from Danville High School and attended both The Ohio State University and The University of Michigan, although he remained a loyal Buckeye fan throughout his life. He was a US Air Force veteran having served during The Korean War.

Most of his work life was spent at Cooper Energy Services where he started as a buyer in 1960 and rose to Purchasing Manager during his 33-year career. Charles retired from Cooper's in 1993.

Charles was a 64-year member of Mt. Zion Lodge#9F&AM where he served as Past Master of the lodge and was a recipient of the Knight York Cross of Honour.

Another of Charlie's hobbies was riding Honda Gold Wing motorcycles. He was a Life Member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association where he also served as a Rider Safety Instructor.

Charles was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Mount Vernon.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his wife, V. Katherine (Kinard) Brown and his sister, Ruth Ann Woods.

Surviving are his two sons Ronald (Ann) Brown of Ringtown, PA and Richard (Wendy) Brown of N. Granby, CT; granddaughter Rachel Brown, his favorite niece Yvonne Clutter, nephews: Greg Woods and Bruce Haggard, and nieces: RaeJean Clark, Angle Daniel, Emily Kitchens, and Autumn Kinard.

A celebration of Charles's life will take place at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 7 at Lasater Funeral Home 11337 Upper Gilchrist Road, Mount Vernon with the Rev. Arthur Lund presiding. Calling hours will be Tuesday night from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Lasater Funeral Home with a Masonic funeral service starting at 7:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., Mount Vernon or Hospice of Knox County, 17700 Coshocton Road, Mount Vernon, OH 43050.
