GREENSBORO - Dixie Lawrence Davis, 68, passed away on March 1, 2018, at Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston Salem after an extended and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer.
Dixie was born to Edna Poole of Mayodan on May 10, 1949, one of five siblings. She is survived by her husband, Charlie Davis; by her daughter, Jennifer Kelly; by her brothers, Sidney and James Lawrence; and by her sisters, Ramona Piravano and Billie Slawski.
She graduated from UNCG in 1972 and taught in both the Asheboro City school and the Guilford County school systems. Always an avid reader of books, she also worked as a library assistant after the birth of her daughter. A lover of trees, she expressed that love in various works of art, including scenes made from patches of fabric as well as window ornaments and necklaces fashioned from woven wire strung inside metal or beaded ovals.
In lieu of flowers, she wished that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or any other cancer fighting organization of your choice. A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, at Change the Nations Church, 4619 Mercury Drive, Greensboro. Gate City Cremations is serving the Davis family.
