Mrs. Peters passed away July 28, 2002, exactly one month after celebrating her 93rd birthday. She was born in Montgomery, Louisiana in 1909. As a young bride, she and her husband came to Korbel to join his parents. His father was superintendent of the Korbel Mill.

After the mill closed, they moved to Eureka where she spent the rest of her life.

Mrs. Peters was an active member in the Eureka Womans Club for many years. She was made a charter member in April 2001. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deaconess and sang in the choir. The last 3 1/2 years of her life were spent at Alder Bay, where she made many good friends. Her best friend Barbara Schmidt.

She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Williamson Rooney, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves a special niece and three nephews.

Those preceding her in death were 10 siblings; son Eddie (Sonny) Patterson; her first husband Jack Patterson and second husband Lowell Peters.

A special thank-you to the very caring staff of Alder Bay. Also, Dr. Sattler, Hospice and her best friend Bernice Bumpus.

At her request, there will be no service. A memoriam will be held August 10, 2002 at 2 p.m. at Alder Bay, 1355 Myrtle Ave., Eureka.

Arrangements are under the direction of Pierce Mortuary Chapels/Pierce Chapel, Eureka.

Donations in her name may be made to Hospice of Humboldt 2010 Myrtle Ave., Eureka, CA 95501.
