Rodney G. Peters, 79, Neosho, entered into rest on March 2, 2018.

He was born Feb. 3, 1939 in Honey Creek, IA to Clyde and Agnes (Axtell) Peters.

He graduated Abraham Lincoln HS, Council Bluffs, IA as class valedictorian and national merit scholar, then graduated as valedictorian of Parsons College in Fairfield, IA, and went on to graduate with honors from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago, IL. He served many congregations during his career as a Presbyterian Minister, most recently serving the First Presbyterian Church in Scammon, KS.

In addition to his family and service to God, Rodney enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and his five pets.

He was a two-time mayor of Crane, MO, former president of the Crane Lion's Club, trusted counsel within the church leadership, and active with the Neosho Democratic Committee.

Rodney married Sandra Lee Redmond on Jan. 17, 1970 in Oak Park, IL; she survives of the home.

Additional survivors include four children: Stephanie Lee Phillips Markstein, Shannon Lee Banks and husband, Richard, Raleigh Gene Peters and wife, Laura, and Samantha Lee Terrell and husband, Joshua; one brother, James Peters; one sister, Sharon Bower; and five grandchildren: Arielle Markstein, Mackenzie Markstein, Madeline Banks, Jennings Terrell, and Sterling Terrell.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00, Thurs. March 8, 2018 at Bethany Presbyterian Church, Joplin, MO, with Pastor K.O. Noonoo officiating.

Visitation will follow the memorial until 3:00.

Interment at Great Valley Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Malvern, PA will be on June, 2018.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Westminster Woods, a Kansas Christian Camp, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, MO 64850.
