Sandra Kay (Johnson) Ferguson, age 69 years, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018. Sandy was born on March 13, 1948 to Merle Edwin Johnson and Virginia Mary (Garvey) Johnson in Bloomington, Illinois. She grew up in Tipp City, Ohio and was a 1967 graduate of Tipp City High School. Sandy lived and worked primarily as a waitress in Tipp City and the surrounding area for most of her life. She waitressed at the Dog House in Troy and the Tipp O’ the Town in Tipp City. Her last employment was at the Family Dollar Store in New Carlisle, Ohio. Sandy loved her family, the customers she served, the Cincinnati Reds, Christmas, and her “dog nephew,” Buddy. Preceded in death by her mother and father, Sandy is survived by her beloved younger brother, Michael R Johnson (Ashburn, VA) and his wife, Tammy (McClanahan) Johnson, whom she loved dearly. Also left to cherish Sandy’s memory are many dear cousins and friends. Sandy’s family thanks the Laurels of Huber Heights for providing Sandy’s intense daily care and St. John’s Catholic Church (Tipp City) where Sandy was a faithful member for many years and whose members visited Sandy, providing her with encouragement and support. A very special thank you goes to hospice nurse and case manager Troy Gliem of Hospice of Dayton who provided Sandy with a special friendship and the customized care she needed. The care givers at Hospice of Dayton are truly angels on this earth. Funeral service 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 7, 2018 at FRINGS AND BAYLIFF FUNERAL HOME, 327 W. Main St., Tipp City, OH 45371, Father R. Marc Sherlock officiating; burial will follow in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Tipp City.
