Joseph T. Horn Dead
Prominent Farmer and Confederate Veteran Passes Away at Home Near Stribling Springs, Augusta County.
Joseph T. Horn eighty-five years old, a widely known farmer and Confederate veteran, died Monday night at 7 o'clock at his home near Stribling Springs, Augusta County, after a long illness.
During the War Between the State he was a brave Confederate soldier. He fought under General John D Imboden at the Battle of Piedmont, where he was captured. He was taken to federal prison in Indiana, where he remained until the close of the war.
Surviving him are his wife, who was Miss Douglas, of Bath County and three sons, Rev. Alexander Horn, a United Brethren minister in Pennsylvania; Charles and Thomas Horn of Stribling Springs. A nephew, John, lives in Harrisonburg. His father was the late Jonathan Horn. He was the last member of the family. He was a member of the United Brethren Curch.
The funeral will be held this morning at 10 o'clock from the home. Services will be conducted by Rev. A.J. Secrist, of Churchville, assisted by Rev. A.S. Mammach, of Dayton, and Rev. G.B. Fadeley of Verona.
