Peggy Ann Benton Hart ~ (February 14, 1933 - February 17, 2018)

Peggy Ann [Benton] Hart, 85, of Johns Island, SC, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2018.

The road was long, but now she rejoices in the presence of the Lord.

Born the daughter of Neatha Groves Benton and Eldon Louis Benton, Peggy was born and raised on Johns Island, SC. She attended St. Johns Elementary School and Bishop England High School. She was married Dec 26, 1952 to the love of her life Robert M. Hart, Sr. She was the mother of five children that she adored. She worked side by side with her husband starting, creating and maintaining a successful roofing business.

She was a member of the National Association of Female Executives, Fellow of the International Biographical Association. The American Biographical Institute nominated her to be included in the 6th edition of Two Thousand Notable American Women, for her exemplary performance in leadership management.

She was nominated by the International Biographical Centre to be included in the 12th edition and the 3rd edition of the World Who's Who of Women.

She was nominated by the American Biographical Institute Inc as Woman of the Year in 1993.

She was also nominated by International Biographical Centre as International Woman of the Year in 1992/1993.

Peggy's hobbies were dancing and traveling with her beloved husband every chance they had.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Neatha and Eldon Benton; her loving husband, Robert M. Hart, Sr.; two brothers: Louis Eldon Benton and James Benton and a sister, Gaynell Anderson.

She is survived by her children: Robert Hart, Jr (Tammy); Linda Hart; Teresa Cox (Curtis); Katherine Roper; Thomas Hart (Alicia); her grandchildren: Brent Gorman, Matthew Hart, Emily Roper, Penelope Roper, Sadie Roper, Samuel B. Hart, Lisa Crosby, Ryan Purvis, Cassie Purvis, Mike Cox and Chris Cox; her great grandchildren: Brittany Wilson, Cameron Wilson, Jordan Sigmon, Megan Cox and Caleb Cox. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Doris Hiott, Christine Newman, Allene Cowart, Imogene Lassister (Randy), Katherine Benton, Ronald Benton (Maureen) , Johnny Benton (Judy), Larry Benton (Peggy), Sherry Jones (Dwayne); and many, many nephews and nieces whom she loved very dearly.
