Ralph Barentine, age 79, of Malvern, died Sunday, September 2, 2012.

He was born on August 18, 1933, at Kirby, the son of James Madison Barentine and Artie Yeargan Barentine. On January 8, 1988, he was married to Jean Westcott. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Debbie Barentine; three brothers, Noel Barentine, Okal Barentine, Jr. and Kenneth Barentine; and one sister, Lema Sue O'Neal.

A U.S. Army veteran, he was a police officer for sixteen years; a roofer; and was Missionary Baptist in his faith.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Barentine of Malvern; one son, Glen Allen Barentine of Hot Springs; one daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Kay and Ben Arnett of Ashdown; one stepson, Jimmy Golden and his wife, Sandy, of Malvern; one stepdaughter, Pamela Kay Wood and her husband, Ben, of Malvern; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorma Faye Mehling of Glenwood; one sister-in-law, Betty Barentine of Glenwood; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
