Keith E. Roberts
Avon - Keith E. Roberts, age 87, of Avon, In. and formerly of New Castle, In. passed away Saturday evening, March 3rd, 2018 at the Countryside Meadows Nursing Facility in Avon following an extended illness.
He was born December 26th,1930 in New Castle and was the son of the late Raymond and Kathryn (Cloud ) Roberts. A graduate of New Castle High School class of 1944.
He was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, received the Pesidential Citation twice, the Korean Presidential Citation and Meritorious Service award. He fought in four major Battles including the Battle of White Horse Mountain, (the biggest battle of the War).
A Life member of the Korean War Veterans Association local # 188 of Florida and #259 of Indianapolis A Life member of V.F.W. Post # 7119 of Indianapolis and the American Legion Post #137 of New Castle. He served the Honor Guard at the Bushnell Veterans National Cemetery in Bushnell, Fl., and served the Indy Post # 259 with fund raisers for the V A Hospital. He also enjoys custom woodworking.
Keith is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn (Shopp) Roberts whom he married July 9th, 1954; three daughters, Vickie Lee (husband- Bill) Blaylock of Portland, Tenn., Debra Ann (husband- Domenick) Cuminotti of Avon, Tasha Marie Roberts of Indianapolis; four grandchildren, Michael B. (wife-Amber) Guthrie of Portland, Tenn., Candace A. (husband-Raymond) Smith of Franklin, In. Jonathan M. Cuminotti of Avon, Dominique M. (husband- Jo'y) Khotxay of Danville, In.; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Gilford Roberts.
Funeral services will be held Friday, March 9th, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at the Hacker- Main & Davis Funeral Home Broad st. Chapel with Rev. Randy Tooley officiating. Burial will follow at the South Mound Cemetery with Military Rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #137 and V.F.W. Post # 1282. Friends may call on Friday from 11:00a.m.- 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home.
